    Role:

    Under general supervision and guidance, this position is directly responsible for developing and delivering the new employee and ongoing training curriculum for employees in the Teller, Member Services Representative (MSR), Branch Specialist, Assistant Branch Manager, and Branch Manager positions. Serves as the credit union 'go-to' person for questions from staff related to Branch Operations.

     

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    • Conduct training for all new frontline employees including Tellers, MSRs, Branch Specialists, Assistant Branch Managers, and Branch Managers.
    • Confer with Branch Managers and Branch Operations Managers to determine ongoing training needs and schedule training sessions appropriately.
    • Design training programs to effectively train all employees on branch operations, cross-selling, products and services, etc.
    • Train new frontline employees on products, software, job functions, policies and procedures, credit union standards, member service and communications for effective and accurate processing of member account transactions.
    • Conduct training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, etc.
    • Support and mentor new employees initially and ongoing as needed.
    • Keep attendance and other records during training sessions.
    • Manage training budgets within guidelines specified by Training Manager.
    • Conduct evaluations upon the completion of each training session to identify strengths and/or areas of needed improvement.
    • Proactively review training material and make updates as needed.
    • Contact attendees and department representatives about upcoming training programs.
    • Develop strong relationship with all Credit Union departments to develop course materials and receive feedback.
    • Update Digital Service Channels including the Education and Training Page and KBase.
    • Assess individual employee needs to determine if additional one on one training is needed.
    • Provide feedback and offer suggestions on "How To" and send "Reminder" emails.

     

    Knowledge and Skills:


    Experience

    3 years of experience in a financial institution and in customer service and training experience with groups and individuals.

    Education

    2-year college degree in Business Administration, Education, Communication, or a related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.

    Interpersonal Skills

    • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature.
    • Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

     

    Other Skills

    • Must possess excellent communication skills.
    • Must be able to operate related computer software and business equipment including 10-key, telephone, slide, film, overhead projector, and other related training aids.
    • Must have a knowledge of Pelican's products/services, lending processes, and rules/regulations which govern the Credit Union.
    • Professionalism in appearance, dress, and attitude is a must.
    • Must possess the ability to engage in professional and productive conversation with others.
    • Must be comfortable presenting in a group or individual setting.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel to Pelican Branches and locations throughout Louisiana as needed for training.

     

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
    • Ability to lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
    • Ability to perform repetitive movements such as typing.
    • Ability to understand the speech or written communication of another person.
    • Ability to speak or communicate in writing clearly so others can understand.
    • Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away such as computer monitors.
    • Ability to travel within the state of Louisiana


    Work Environment

    Work will be performed in an indoor office setting and/or classroom.

    Position Overview

    The Manager, Learning and Development (L&D) is responsible for planning and implementing a year-long professional development strategy to prepare AmeriCorps members to deliver high-quality and high-impact service to students in schools while increasing their leadership capacity and skills. The L&D Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring AmeriCorps members are prepared with the proper training and learning opportunities throughout their service year. Duties include: Collaborate with Staff to plan and execute site-wide programming and onboarding for ACMs throughout the year, develop and adapt training sessions by aligning and updating HQ material with local needs including site cultural needs and school districts’ requirements, support the creation and delivery of new resources, diversify training resources and materials by collaborating with other service providers and local trainers; identify, screen, and secure key people who can support the Learning and Development program and provide high quality learning and trainings to our corps; and collaborate and support the execution of learning and development events with the Returning AmeriCorps member point.


    Job Description

    Corps Learning & Development:

    Oversee the execution of AmeriCorps member learning, training, and development.

    • Plan and execute the schedule, logistics, sessions, and facilitators of Learning and Development Days throughout the year that are focused on AmeriCorps member service training, leadership development, and Leadership After City Year(LACY).
    • Plan and execute all Learning and Development events such as Basic Training Academy, Mid-Year Summit, Learning and Development Days, school-based trainings, and on-going trainings for all AmeriCorps members.
    • Work with City Year Impact Staff to develop a year-long comprehensive program for AmeriCorps members that takes into account varied trainings to help all AmeriCorps members in their service delivery and to develop their civic leadership skills.
    • Work with City Year Impact Staff to develop additional year-long comprehensive programs for Service Leaders (Returning AmeriCorps members) that take into account their experience, leadership roles and responsibilities.
    • Evaluate on an on-going basis the Learning and Development program to ensure trainings are meeting corps, impact staff, and external partner needs.
    • Work with City Year Headquarters to share best practices in training and to continue to develop the Learning and Development program (serve as HQ Learning & Development Point).
    • Serve as Site Point for the Leadership After City Year (LACY) program that connects AmeriCorps members to resources and networking events and opportunities.
    • Secure venues and other resources for training, in particular in-kind resources.

    Strengthen Whole School Whole Child Service and Programming:

    Oversee observations and service delivery in all our schools and ensure that resources and the Learning and Development program is meeting the needs of our AmeriCorps members and schools to ensure they are equipped to meet City Year standards as Student Success Coaches in the schools in Tier 1 supports and Tier 2 interventions.

    • Collaborate with various staff to develop trainings and programming that will assist AmeriCorps members to coach students towards achieving high marks for attendance, behavior, and course performance in English and math.
    • Provide context, resources, and support to elementary, middle, and high school service models.
    • Conduct thorough and consistent assessments for AmeriCorps members to demonstrate skill level in English and Math tutoring, use data to inform learning and development and track progress of AmeriCorps member learning.
    • Facilitate, support, and conduct regular formalized observations and provide constructive feedback for growth to the Impact staff and AmeriCorps members to improve quality of service. 
    • Provide guidance and feedback to Impact Staff to standardize and align City Year’s service delivery particularly around lesson planning, interventions, and after school programming.
    • Conduct consistent surveys for AmeriCorps members to share feedback and suggestions for learning and development program.
    • Work with Impact Managers to provide and assess needs for on-going trainings in schools.
    • Work with Impact Analytics Manager to use data strategically to help inform service delivery, learning, and development to ensure corps is committed to student success and equipped to meet City Year standards as Student Success Coaches in the schools.

    Manage External Speakers and Develop Relationships:

    • Identify key people in the Baton Rouge area who can support the Learning and Development program and provide high quality learning and trainings to our corps.
    • In collaboration with the Development team, develop and manage external relationships with trainers across the Baton Rouge area.

    Identify venues in Baton Rouge that are potential venues for a City Year training space partnership.

    Job Description:

    This position is in the Training & Organizational Development (T&OD) unit within the Office of Human Resource Management (HRM) at LSU. The T&OD unit provides LSU with consulting, training, and assessment services that ensure continuous individual and organizational performance improvement. The T&OD Specialist designs, develops, updates, and delivers training on a variety of professional and supervisory topics and supports employee engagement and performance management. 

    Job Responsibilities:

    45%- Training: Designs, develops, updates, and delivers training materials for professional and supervisory level training topics for in person, virtual, and online workshops, including but not limited to HRM Biz Bytes, DiSC, Facility and Property Oversight Supervisory Trainings, Management Foundation Series, Climbing the Career Ladder, and departmental trainings; stays abreast of training trends, techniques, and programs, and implements research into current and/or new courses; partners with subject matter experts as needed. 

    40%- Performance Management: Supports the performance management program as the co-SME through testing,  data conversion, planning for Workday updates to understand changes related to the Talent Module, and develops and facilitates training; serves as the back up for tracking and analyzing exit interview metrics. 

    10%- Organizational Development: Supports engagement efforts for HRM employees, including but not limited to HRM Internship Program, HRM Mentorship Program; stays abreast of organizational development trends, techniques, and programs, and implements research into current and/or new initiatives.   

    5%- May supervise student workers and assign projects; other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 1 year of related experience.
